Bastian for WordPress.

The official plugin puts Bastian on your WordPress site without touching a line of code. Download it below, upload it to your site, and paste in your license key — the whole thing takes about two minutes.

Prefer a manual install? You can also download the plugin zip directly.

Installation

From download to first conversation.

  1. 1

    Find Bastian in your dashboard

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for "Bastian Assistant" — look for the little blue face.

  2. 2

    Install and activate

Click Install Now, then Activate. No downloads, no uploads — WordPress handles it, and future updates arrive automatically.

  3. 3

    Paste your license key

Grab your key from your Bastian dashboard (a free tier is available), paste it into Settings → Bastian Assistant, and save. The chat widget appears on your site right away.

Before You Install

What the plugin needs.

WordPress 6.0 or newer
Tested up to WordPress 7.1. If your site is a few versions behind, updating first is a good idea anyway.
PHP 7.4 or newer
Most hosts are well past this. If you're not sure, your hosting dashboard will say — or the plugin will tell you on activation.
A Bastian license key
The plugin is the connector; Bastian himself runs on our servers, protected by PsiGuard. Sign up free at heybastian.com and your key is waiting in your dashboard.
Common Questions

The things people ask first.

Will this slow my site down?

No. The plugin is three small files, and all the heavy lifting happens on Bastian's servers — nothing runs on yours except a lightweight widget.

How do I update the plugin?

Automatically — Bastian is in the official WordPress plugin directory, so updates arrive through your dashboard like any other plugin. (If you installed manually from a downloaded zip, install the directory version once and you'll be on the automatic track too — your settings carry over.)

Can I control where the widget shows up?

Yes — hide it for logged-in users, or exclude specific pages and posts, right from the plugin's settings. The widget's look, greeting, and knowledge live in your Bastian dashboard.

Not on WordPress?

Bastian works anywhere you can paste a snippet of code. Install the web widget →
